Palisade Head Elopement, North Shore MN / Naomi & Eric
Before engagement sessions, I send out a questionnaire to get more insight into the couple. One of the questions is “What are three words that describe you as a couple?” Naomi and Eric answered, “light hearted/silly, easy-going, Beebliness (Eric and I’s nicknames for each other are ‘beeb’ and beeble. Beebliness is a word we created that has a few meanings, but basically serves as a reminder for us to try and stay positive.) During our initial consultation I felt like we had been friends for years. We met at Sebastian Joe’s and immediately hit it off! But after reading this answer, I fell in love with this couple. Their Palisade Head elopement was the definition of “beebliness.”
They actually had a large wedding planned, but with Coronavirus, decided to delay until the fall with an intimate wedding on the original date. It ended up being a blessing! When thinking of locations for their small-scale ceremony, Naomi mentioned a state park or nature-based area. I knew it was a far reach, but threw out the idea of a wedding on Palisade Head. Palisade Head is a stunning cliffside on the North Shore of Minnesota; a one-of-a-kind view in an otherwise flat state! Turns out, Eric was planning to propose on Palisade Head. He and Naomi even make a yearly trip out there! Once again, I immediately felt like we were destined to work together. It was such a dream. A dream for them as a couple, for me as a photographer, and for us as new friends!
From embroidery on Eric’s jacket to engraved champagne glasses, the day was a crazy bright sunbeam of positivity (in a particularly dark historical moment). Their wedding ceremony made me cry with stories of acceptance, support, and trust. Eric and Naomi deserve the world, and they have it with each other!
