About a week ago, my sister asked me “do you ever get tired of weddings?” I immediately responded that I don’t! I’m like Captain Jack Sparrow; “I LOVE WEDDINGS! DRINKS ALL AROUND!!” In addition to the obvious, (love, happiness, excitement, etc), I love that each wedding is unique, even if it follows the same structure. And from this wedding, two things really stood out to me!
#1: you can have a wedding theme without it being a THEMED wedding. Since Nick is a pilot, he and Colleen travel the world together! They had a globe guest book with everyone’s recommendations on where to travel, little airplane gummies by the bar, and a few Delta plane models scattered throughout cocktail hour. Each guest table was a different location the couple had traveled to together, with photos from that trip! While all of these details were subtle, they created such a beautiful picture of Colleen and Nick’s relationship!
#2: acknowledging and thanking people who aren’t even present is a testament to how big your heart is. Colleen is a big supporter of sustainable, ethical, and local farming, and made sure she stood by that on her wedding day! When she and Nick were saying “thank you’s” to family, friends, and vendors, she also thanked the FARMERS that helped bring them their dinner. I couldn’t stop smiling, even though this was such a small part of the entire day.
Colleen and Nick are such genuine, goofy, loving people, both in their relationship and separately. I am so grateful to have them in my life as part of the Empiria family, and for the opportunity to photograph their wedding! Scroll down for all the love!
