When people ask where I’m from, my answer is always so complicated: “My parents are from the east coast, I was born on the west coast, but raised in Minnesota.” Even though I grew up in Minneapolis, met my husband here, now have a house and career here, there is some part of my heart that doesn’t feel 100% Minnesotan.
EXCEPT…when I’m at Windows on Minnesota. On the 50th floor of the IDS Center, the tallest building in Minnesota, in the heart of Minneapolis, my heart explodes with Minnesotan pride. It’s kind of like The Lion King, “everything the light touches is your kingdom.” With floor-to-ceiling windows, overlooking every suburb I’ve ever known, I can trace each highway all the way to the horizon. I can find the buildings that have landmarked everything from a daily drive to a new adventure. And, bonus, this is the venue where I had my bat mitzvah! So when I get to photograph weddings in this amazing space, not only are the photos absolutely GORGEOUS, but they are so special!!
Grace and Ben felt this same connection to Windows on Minnesota, as their whole lives center around Minneapolis. As Grace told me, “neither of us have had a strong desire to move, even as career opportunities have presented themselves in different states, so having our ‘home town’ as the backdrop of our day is really special.” Grace even works with local politicians, so both senators were in attendance (and great dancers!).
What a gorgeous, romantic evening! Can’t wait to be back at this venue soon! <3
